Bonjour juin

[Hello June]

May has been a little crazy. Of the runs in the park slash flight to France slash rosé et mauresque with Anna-Sarah (every single night) slash book writing slash turning my kitchen into a mess to the point of no return slash painting on porcelain plates kind.

The sky back home hasn’t been as blue as I remember it. But it’s ok. I know June will bring days at the beach and watercolours painted in the garden.
Yes, it promises all kinds of good.

The not so official June happy-list.

1. Finishing the manuscript for le petit cookbook. Yaay!
2. True Blood!!!!!* That’s all I have to say. And really, I can’t wait.
3. Cherries picked straight from a tree. And making a clafoutis too.
4. Days at the beach.
5. Painting too many illustrations** for the book.
6. And perhaps a photoshoot too with a photographer I love.
7. Finding an exciting job for when I’ll finally call London home again (ooh I so can’t wait to work in a kitchen again).
8. Kissing, of the French kind.
9. A slice of party cake. And fraisier too.
10. Taking part of this awesome project. I’m thrilled. Beyond words.

* Insert super-excited – almost squeaky – voice here.
** I could never paint enough. The most relaxing thing in my life. Not unlike kneading brioche dough by hand.

    1. Wet puddly muddles of June get me excited and wake up my spirit. For those who hate the rain..well, it excites me and I become switched on and buzz. What a romantic!
    2. Stirring love into dishes of whole & healthy, goodness-oozing creations! I am in food all day as a cook but nothing beats sharing a food passion with someone else! Reading your blog, Fanny, being encouraged to try lovely things and surrounding ourselves with beauty is good self-love, too.

    June ushers in the beginning of our rainy season over here and the end of summer. Although I will miss our beach trips and playing in the sand I look forward to the type of cooking the rainy season brings (a lot of hearth/heart-warming soups, stews, braises) and, the cooler weather of course (it was a blazing summer!). And more snuggling! Happy June to you!

    I can totally relate to ‘May madness’ my life seems to be a mirror to so many other wonderful people who are creating and inspiring at the same time.
    I am at the beginning of starting the manuscript for my cookbook and find true inspiration from your wonderful visual feast on your blog pages.
    True Blood! Another visual ‘feast’ and Oh yes, we love it and are awaiting the release of season 4 on dvd..
    Cherries too are growing here in Penticton and we await more sunshine to ripen the ‘black beauties’ ready for every delicious recipe I can create.
    Cooking classes start next week at my kitchen studio Here in Penticton, British Columbia, Canada, and I miss home (England)
